Guttering

Guttering systems are designed to collect rainwater from the roof and direct it safely away from the building through downpipes and drainage systems. A complete system usually includes gutter lengths, fittings and downpipe components that connect together along the roof edge.

Our range includes square and half-round gutter systems along with brackets, outlets, bends and downpipe fittings used to build or repair rainwater drainage around a property.

How Guttering Systems Work

Rainwater from the roof flows into the gutter channel, which runs along the edge of the roofline. The water is then directed through outlets into downpipes that carry it down the building and into surface water drainage.

Different gutter profiles are available depending on the installation. Half-round gutters are commonly used on traditional roofs, while square gutters provide a slightly larger capacity and a more modern appearance.

Fittings such as bends, outlets and unions allow gutter sections and downpipes to be connected securely so the system can direct water away efficiently.

FAQ’s:

Can I mix square and half-round gutter systems?

It’s generally best to stick with one profile throughout the system. While adaptors exist, mixing profiles can complicate the installation and affect how fittings line up.

What usually causes gutters to overflow?

Overflow is often caused by blockages from leaves and debris, incorrect gutter fall, or gutters that are undersized for the roof area.

How much fall should a gutter have?

Gutters normally need a slight fall towards the outlet so water drains properly. Too little fall can cause standing water, while too much can make the system look uneven.

What happens if a gutter joint starts leaking?

Most gutter leaks occur at unions or joints. These can often be fixed by reseating the seal, replacing the fitting, or re-clipping the section properly.
